ExplainShot

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 26, 2026

ExplainShot (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is built to help you understand what's on your screen by analyzing screenshots you choose to share. We take your privacy seriously and collect as little data as possible.

Information We Process

  • Screenshots & Images: When you submit a screenshot, the image is sent to our AI processing provider (OpenAI) solely to generate an explanation. Images are not stored on our servers and are not used to train AI models.
  • Subscription Data: Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status (active, expired, trial). RevenueCat receives an anonymous user identifier — not your name, email, or Apple ID.
  • Diagnostic Data: We may collect anonymous crash logs and performance metrics to improve app stability. This data cannot be used to identify you.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
  • We do not require an account.
  • We do not sell or share data with advertisers.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Third-Party Services

Data Retention

Screenshots are processed in real time and discarded immediately after the explanation is returned. We do not maintain a history of your images on our servers. Any history shown inside the app is stored locally on your device only.

Children's Privacy

ExplainShot is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your Rights

Because we do not store personal data tied to you, there is generally nothing to delete on our side. You can delete locally-stored history at any time by removing the app. For subscription questions, contact Apple Support.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date above.
